FAQs

Where does your beef come from?

All of our beef comes from Canada, where the best beef in the world is commonly under appreciated. We source our beef in small quantities from family run farms in Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

What does Federally Registered Mean?

All meat processed and harvested in Ontario, or in Canada is regulated under either A) Provincial B) Federal guidelines, rules and regulations.

Federally Registered establishments, and their approved products, are eligible to export outside Canada as they meet the rigorous international science based standards required to do so.

The facilities which produce our products, meet the highest eligible Canadian CFIA standards and thus subject to daily inspection and audits by CFIA personnel with full access, oversight and control over all aspects of our food safety system and the products we produce.

These CFIA representatives take their mandate primarily from the Safe Foods For Canadian’s Act, and their jurisdiction directly from the Governor General as the Queen’s representative in Canada.

Where does your Chicken come from?

All of our chicken is from Ontario. Most of our chickens are grown in the Eastern Kawartha region of Ontario. All of our chicken is air chilled, never pumped, tumbled, injected, or otherwise adulterated.

Where Does your Pork come from?

Canadian Pork is internationally recognized as amongst the best in the world. It is a little known fact that many international trading partners specifically import Canadian, and many times Ontario Pork, to serve their most elite meals and in their first class destinations.

All of the pork used in our products is Canadian, most of it is from Ontario within 150 kms of our Store. A portion of our Pork comes from Quebec, one of the best growing regions in Canada and also Internationally recognized.

Is your beef 100% Grass Fed?

No. Our beef is pasture raised. What this means is that it is raised on a diet of forage (cattle are free and they walk the farm to eat) which is augmented with sustainably farmed and harvested silage from local crops. This beef combines all of the benefits of grass fed only cattle, with the wonderful eating properties of traditional beef.

Do your products have any preservatives, fillers, binders, bread, or other non organic ingredients?

No. Never. All of our products are processed in small batches by hand, using state of the art machinery and old world techniques. Each item, including our burgers and our sausages, are made from small lots of cattle, pigs, or chickens to ensure high quality and consistent experience.

They contain only Meat, Salt and Spices.

What does Organic mean?

Certified Organic means that our products, the inputs used to produce them, as well as the processes by which they are produced and transported all meet or exceed the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Organic Standards 32.210 and 32.211. These standards cover all aspects of the product and its inputs including but not limited to growing, feed, traceability, production, and sanitation.

For more information please visit the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) website.

Is your meat traceable?
